Heather's Shower

This Saturday, I was priveledged to be one of the hostesses for my friend Heather's shower (I was 1 of 11 - so she is obviously well-loved). Heather and I have been close friends since 2002 when she mentored me as a college student. We now have shared an office and worked together for 3 years. I can honestly say that Heather has been one of the most influential women in my life - and how fun that we get to experience pregnancy together! It was one of the most fun baby showers I've ever been to. I'm sure partially b/c I'm pregnant, but I still wanted to share some fun pictures with everyone!

The cutest cake ever!

There must have been 50 women there, so I'd say she's pretty set on baby supplies at this point.

The Hostess Pic: all of these ladies go to Grace, and most of them work with me: what a fun job I have! Top Row: Andrea, Marci, Beth, Carolyn, and me. Bottom Row: Erin, Lisa, Heather, Pam, Tristie, Shannon.

There's some weird stuff going on

Well I've decided to share my most memorable pregnancy moment to date. At first I thought I would keep this to myself, for reasons you will soon understand, but figured it would bring more humor to others than embarrassment to myself. Tuesday night I got home from a long day of work and house hunting only to realize I was starving. Of course I could not let the needs of my sweet puppy go unmet, so decided to fill up his bowl first w/ some nutrient-rich Beneful (original formula). As soon as I opened the bag and caught a whiff of the dog food, it suddenly seemed like the most appetizing thing I could possibly eat at that moment. Never has dog food seemed the least bit attractive to me, but I told Wrigley he had better eat it quick or it might not be there. And no, I didn't dare eat the dog food, though I did imagine myself trying a kibble. Still, I refrained, and took myself to Taco Bell (which might not have been that far different ;) but these days a crunch-wrap supreme always hits the spot! But, if the cravings persist, I don't know how long I could neglect the obvious financial benefits to be gained -- hmmmmm.

Maybe I'm just a show off

Okay - in my opinion, it seems pretty early, but I think I'm beginning to show. One thing I've been blessed with has been a relatively flat stomach. Don't worry, I've got more than my fair share of body fat, it just doesn't pile on in the outward direction (I find I grow wider rather than thicker). However, when I look down these days, I see much more of my tummy than I ever did before. This is especially weird since I'm nearly 6 ft tall and therefore it's supposed to take even longer for my belly to grow (so I've heard). All that to say, I'm doing a lot of double-takes these days when I walk by the mirror. Daniel definitely notices, but has been very wary of being the first one to bring it up in conversation - a wise move for a man who lives with a woman who very well could bite his head off (or at least a finger) at a moment's notice. I'll probably start taking pictures every couple of weeks and post another slide show so we can all see the transformation.

Daniel and Amber: In the baby making business since 2008

Well it's official - Amber is with child!!!! We really are so excited and can't wait until October (due date is Oct 4). So far I've been to the doctor 3 times and every visit has been great. We look forward to keeping you up with what's happening at least on a weekly basis. So thanks for checking out our blog and in the mean time please join us in thanking the Lord who has given us and sustained this life inside Amber :)
Meanwhile here's our latest sonogram from week 9
