Our baby moves

I've been feeling movement in my belly for almost a month now, but it's getting more and more pronounced. In fact, this week, I can feel him from the outside almost daily. Last night the little guy was kickin around and even though Daniel had already fallen asleep, I grabbed his hand and put it on my belly so he could feel it for the first time!!!
The moment wasn't exactly all I had dreamed of, but maybe my expectations were a little unreasonable given Daniel's mellow personality. He sat there for a few seconds and was certainly entertained, and then said, "it's more like poking", then rolled over, and went back to sleep. :)
In Daniel's defense, he does remind me that he was, in fact, asleep and he didn't even remember saying that. So maybe those two can have another encounter at a more reasonable hour.

My new do

So I chopped off all my hair. It was getting really long, and with the length came more fuss in terms of keeping it presentable. I have been wanting to go "short" for a while, and Vivian at the French Door Salon achieved the look I was hoping for. I'm still getting used to it, but think it's a good look for now.

The Blaschke's

Last Saturday, Daniel and I were in the wedding of two of our closest friends, Dave and Jenny. Dave and Daniel go way back. Their families have known each other forever, but their friendship really began in college. In fact, Dave was even in our wedding. Jenny and I have become great friends over the past two years as I've been mentoring her. So all that to say, Saturday was a really special day for all of us (mostly them, but for Daniel and me too :)

In need of change

So I've been getting bored with our blog's "look" and have sensed the need to revamp it for some time. (My friend Shannon would say that this is very consistent with my choleric personality type.) I got this background from cutestblogontheblock.com and chose it b/c it matches the colors I'm doing our master bath in! Hopefully, it's not too girly, but I figured this family could use the extra feminine influence. Hope everyone thinks it's so cute!

Happy Mother's Day

This weekend we were able to spend time with both of our moms. We saw my family on Saturday and Daniel's family Sunday. We wanted to share some wonderful attributes our mothers possess and let you see why we love them so much!

Bobbie (Amber's mom):
- GIVING: my mom will do anything and everything she can to help a person meet their needs. She goes above and beyond in providing for others and giving to the Lord.
- HOSPITABLE: this goes along with the giving, but I love the way my mom receives great joy from sharing her home and possessions with others.
- HARD WORKING: My mom has always been a model to me in this area. She works hard for herself and others showing incredible determination and perseverance which almost always yeilds success!
- FUN: my mom is active, loves to play, and always wants to have a good time -- and of course make it so others do too.

Bel (Daniel's mom)
actually written by Daniel :)
- PRAYING: Mom prays for us and our siblings every day consistently. There's no greater way that she has shown us her love than through the knowledge that she is lifting our requests to the Lord every morning.
- SERVING: Mom has always been an example of sacrifice and service and she continues to exemplify that...whether it be watching Wrigley, making us dinner or helping us pack and clean our old condo.
- UNSELFISH: This goes hand-in-hand with Mom's previous attribute, but I know that Mom is always doing things with others best interests in mind first and hers last.
- HARD WORKING: Mom has showed me that hard work is a part of a successful, fruitful life. She has taught me the importance of not only honoring my immediate authority with my efforts, but more importantly my Heavenly Authority. Of course, Mom's model of hard-work also includes the above attributes as well.

We love both of our moms so much and are blessed by this opportunity to show them the honor they deserve!

Dr. Jansky and Me (month 5)

Well the results are in. The pregnancy poll showed 2:1 odds in favor of a boy and that's what we're having!!! This morning Daniel and I went for my monthly check-up and scheduled sonogram. The lab technician was dismayed that at first glance the baby was sleeping in a ball - so through much tossing and turning (on my part) and poking and prodding (on hers) we woke up the little guy and got him to show us his goods! Daniel was definitely beaming and loved watching him move around in my belly. It was cool b/c we could see all his different parts (not just the private ones). I really am thrilled to know we're having a son and am all the more excited for the little guy to come -- still 5 months away, though. Here are the pictures they sent us home with.

if you can't quite tell what you're looking at, he's looking straight on - the top of his face is on the right, and the rest of his body is on the left.

We haven't settled on a name yet, but we'll get serious about the decision now that we know for sure what we're having. Oh and many of you will be tickled to know that I've finally started putting some weight on - quite a bit this month, actually, so we'll see how much longer I keep that stat posted ;)

Blogs: where the mundane becomes AMAZING!

Some of my friends think blogs are a little ridiculous (especially when the subject is one's daily life). I don't take any offense at this and understand the perspective. Where else besides a mommy's blog would you see the headlines, "Diapers, spit ups, and more" or "Our trip to the library". However, we keep writing on our blogs because we know that someone somewhere cares - and they want to know how walking the dog went and they care about that new haircut and want to see pictures. So this post is to inform you that yesterday WE MOWED OUR LAWN!!! (see what I mean?) This is the first time we've done this as a married couple and it was funny to see the small conflicts arise (based on Daniel's ideas of how a lawn should be mowed, and my knowledge of the RIGHT way a lawn should be mowed - thanks mom and dad!) anywho, we bought a mower on Friday (a Toro 20066 to be exact) it's red and shiny! Then got to work.
We were also wondering how Wrigley would respond since he'd never been around one before and he's afraid of just about everything. Well, he'd either just sit and watch or follow us around. In fact, when we moved to the front, we had to put him in the bed of Daniel's truck because he wanted to be able to watch. And just so you know: I got to do most of the mowing -- I actually love to mow lawns and want to do it as much as I can before I get too prego. It was a blast!(Wrigley enjoying his long grass while he can)

The new place

Just to let you all know, we are now officially living in our new house! It feels 100% like home to us - even with the mess of boxes and paper lying everywhere. Wrigley routinely spends 20 minutes in the backyard at a time and has met two rabbits. He chases them out as fast as he can - I pray that he doesn't one day show up on the doorstep w/ a cute little bunny hanging out of his mouth - but so far, they are much faster than he.

Oh also, tonight I get to attend my first Aggie sporting event for free alongside my husband with the hookups (we even have a parking tag). His job is going well, but he's still getting acclamated to the new environment. Go Ags! BTHO ... actually I'm not sure who the baseball team is playing, but let's beat 'em anyway!
