More change

I was really getting tired of my last background, so I'm trying this one on for now. I give it a month - maybe. Thanks for bearing with me. If nothing else, at least you'll be in store for a new look everytime you log on :)

Some days are just more productive than you expect

Daniel and I drove to Houston on Saturday to pick out nursery furniture with my mom. After learning that it can take 8-16 weeks to come in, I decided we had better get a move on.

By the way, I've been reading "Baby Bargains", a great resource that I think all moms-to-be should invest in. It has given me a wealth of knowledge on all things baby - it's kind of like the "Consumer Reports" of baby gear and helped us in picking out a quality crib.

So back to shopping: we went to USA Baby in Houston - Daniel and I went last week to scout it out - and the three of us were able to settle on a setting that we all loved. (It's the Majestic collection by Munire' for anyone interested). I went to place the order and the sales associate informed me that they had it all in stock (apparently it's their most popular item). Of course we had no intention of this and had just come in our Honda. So mom bought it, of course sparing no expense on her first grand baby, and they held it for us. Well then, my gracious father offered to not only go back to the store to pick it up with his trailer, but then drove it straight to College Station for us. But that's not all, then he stayed and helped Daniel set it all up! I'm so overwhelmed by my parents' generosity - what a special, special day for all of us!!!

Grandpa the mechanical genius

Even Daniel was able to smile during the construction process

This crib was really no match for these guys - as they had it done in under an hour.

If only the rest of the house could live up to this nursery!

Wow!

So I finally got my updated belly photo to work on "our growing baby" (see right side of screen). I think I could watch it all day - I really am getting bigger - well, the baby is too. Anywho, just thought I'd call everyone's attn to it.

Pooped

Daniel took this pic of me and Wrigley yesterday afternoon w/ his phone. This is how we'd spend every afternoon if we could :)

Another pregnancy first

I know this isn't a huge deal, but I had a fun encounter with a couple at Starbucks today. A woman sitting with her husband stopped me and asked me when I was due. This is the first time a stranger has mentioned my pregnancy. So I guess I'm now showing in an obvious way, and no longer in that "is she pregnant or chubby?" phase! It was fun and a great conversation starter.

Sports Camp

This week our church is having "Sports Camp". It's what we're doing instead of Vacation Bible School for the kids this year. Daniel signed up to be a coach - and though it's been tiring, he's had a great time with his fourth graders. Every night he comes home with fun stories about what the day was like. This is definitely an area of ministry we've yet to experience, so way to go Daniel for jumping in!

Also, it was probably embarrassing for him to have his wife following him around with a camera today, I tried to remain inconspicuous, but it was hard with my big belly and bright pink shirt and all. He'll be happy when the attention is focused elsewhere, I'm sure.

I know this pic is blurry, but it's the best shot I got of him during song-time. He won't sing - just does the motions.

and finally, the hero shot!

Dr. Jansky and Me (month 6)

Another appt today - no big deal. Weight, blood pressure, and fetal heartbeat are all good. I'm measuring at 21 (don't know if that's cm, inches, or what) but that's normal too. Really, my next appt will be a big one as I enter my final trimester. They'll test me for gestational diabetes and recheck my white blood count - hopefully things will continue as "normal" (apparently, that's a good word to hear during pregnancy).

My hero!

Today is my sweetie's birthday so of course I need a post dedicated to the greatest man in the world! Here are 4 of the 100 reasons why I think that:
- Daniel is a servant. What a model of Philippians 2, "think not only of your own interests, but also those of others". I can't imagine how hard it must be to continually choose to serve me who is often under appreciative and undeserving. He will be VERY rich in heaven.
- Daniel is responsible. I marvel at his sense of responsibility regarding every area of his life: work, home, family, friendships, etc. (he's as dependable as he is good-looking, folks) Choosing to do the right thing and not taking the easy way out.
- Daniel is playful. This may not be as deep, but I love this about him as much as anything else. He's always playing with Wrigley (making up songs about him, wrestling, hiding, maybe pestering ;) He's always making funny jokes and laughing at mine. He's really so fun to be around.
- Daniel loves well. He has taken the time to learn about me and understand me. Sometimes when I'm down or in a bad mood, he's able to figure out why faster than me. Then he'll get me some ice cream and make it all better - unless the reason I'm down is b/c I feel fat, in which case, he'll go on a walk with me.

Above all else, my husband is a godly man who loves and serves God. What better person to spend my life with and celebrate today!!!

Full House

Tonight was really exciting for us. We had 20 people in our home!!! This week marks the beginning of summer bible study for college, so we had our first leader meeting w/ dinner at the end. I'm still energized by all the excitement and feeling giddy about how well everything went. At our condo, the largest crowd we could handle was 8 (and it was not comfortable). What a blessing to now have such a nice home and people to fill it. I'm so thankful!
